NYS4-HSS Artists & Artisans Abound at the Saratoga County Fair!

The Saratoga County Fair is home this week to many fine artists/artisans who have graciously and generously contributed their time and talents in support of New York State 4-H Shooting Sports.

Brian Ruth, world renowned Masters of the Chainsaw Artist and X-treme Power Sculptor – 2012 NYS4-HSS Artist of the Year – has been busy creating his very special brand of absolutely amazing Chainsaw Sculptures.

Larry Tibbetts of Larry’s Woodcrafts is known for his outstanding Scroll Saw Art carvings and signs – if you’re looking for that perfect signature piece, Larry is the one to see. Larry is based out of Sanford, Maine and makes his way to the Saratoga County Fair every year. Last year, Larry very kindly made us an extraordinary woodcraft sign that now hangs above the entrance door to the new Ranger Cabin (built by many NYS4-HSS Volunteers) in Conservation Village. Larry has been a strong donor to NYS4-HSS providing us with many of his fine Saw Art works for our Annual NYS4-HSS Auctions too.

Lynn Escher, along with her husband Charlie Escher of Studio in the Pines – 2014 NYS4-HSS Artists of the Year – have been turning for hours on end creating incredibly beautiful crafted wooden pieces at their booth in the Conservation Building.

Rich Johnson, Spruce Mountain Photography – 2009 NYS4-HSS Artist of the Year – (shown here with Geraldine Johnson), offers a exceptional display of breathtaking Adirondack, Nature and Wildlife photography in his booth at the entrance of Conservation Village.

Chris Templin, Re-Enactor, in authentic period attire gives visitors a glimpse into real Living History inside Conservation Village. Chris, who is also a NYS4-HSS Volunteer/Instructor, has been a contributor to many NYS4-HSS Auctions providing us with exquisite handmade items such as his custom Colonial Powder Horns.

Deborraha Burnett (shown with NYS4-HSS Director, Bill Schwerd) comes to us all the way from Arkansas. Known affectionately known around the fairgrounds as “The Soap Lady,” Deborraha has made her way to the Saratoga County Fair (as she does to many other fairs across the country) for several years now where she pitches her own period tent, works in period dress and displays her much sought after Scottish Lye Soaps – all handmade from a 200 year old family recipe in an authentic antique iron pot. Deborraha has kindly donated many of her wonderful soaps to our NYS4-HSS Auctions, including the upcoming 2015 Banquet & Auction.

Thank you to ALL our New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Artists and Artisans, we appreciate all you do and are truly honored to have your support!
